Investigators are putting together the pieces after a fatal single-car accident along a busy regional bypass. The crash took place on Wednesday afternoon in the 1500 block of Warrior-Jasper Road in Warrior, Alabama.

Adam Michael Cummings, a 44-year-old driver from neighboring Dora, lost control of his vehicle along the two-lane route. Dispatchers first received reports of the wreck around 4:34 p.m.

Police officers and rescue crews reached the location within minutes of the emergency call. Upon arrival, first responders found the damaged vehicle sitting off the main stretch of the road.

Responders worked quickly to administer aid, but Cummings could not be saved. Medical examiners officially pronounced him dead at the scene at 5:09 p.m.
