Wednesday afternoon ended in tragedy for a local family along a stretch of country road in north-central Alabama. Forty-four-year-old Adam Michael Cummings, who lived in Dora, died after his vehicle crashed on a routine drive through the area.
The wreck happened right in the 1500 block of Warrior-Jasper Road. The two-lane roadway serves as a main connector between the small towns of Warrior and Dora, sitting about twenty miles north of downtown Birmingham.
Emergency teams raced to the scene after getting a call shortly before five in the afternoon. When first responders arrived, they found Cummings’ vehicle off the side of the road with severe damage.
Medical personnel on the scene worked quickly to help the Dora native. Despite their best efforts to save him, Cummings died from his injuries right at the scene a short time later.
Local deputies secured the area and shut down part of the roadway to look over the crash site. Officials confirmed that Cummings was the only person in the vehicle and no other cars were involved.
Deputies are still working to figure out what caused the car to leave the pavement. They are reviewing physical evidence at the scene, road condition reports, and weather factors from that afternoon.
For residents in Dora and Warrior, the loss hits close to home on a road so many travel every day. Authorities expect to share more details once the full crash investigation wraps up.
