Early Monday morning turned tragic on Carmichael Road when a sudden car crash took the life of Bei Matty, a local man widely known around the neighborhood by his nickname “Up Tha Price.” Family members and close friends are dealing with the shock after the late-night wreck near South West Plaza.

Emergency dispatchers got the call just before 2:00 a.m. on August 31, 2026. When police officers pulled up to the scene on Carmichael Road, they found a blue Honda Fit smashed against a tree along the north side of the street. The vehicle had struck a fence belonging to a nearby business before spinning into the tree.

Inside the crushed car, four men were trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters had to use heavy rescue equipment to cut through the bent metal and pull everyone out safely. Emergency medical responders loaded all four occupants into ambulances and rushed them to the hospital in serious condition.

Hospital staff worked on the driver through the early morning hours, but his injuries were too severe. Medical personnel later notified traffic officers that the driver had passed away while receiving care. Authorities confirmed the driver was Bei Matty.

News of Matty’s death traveled fast across the community. For those who knew him well, the sudden phone call in the middle of the night changed everything. Friends are remembering his everyday presence, his laugh, and the simple moments they shared together before the wreck took his life.

Traffic officers spent hours at the scene collecting evidence, measuring skid marks, and examining the damaged fence. Investigators are still putting together the exact sequence of events that caused the car to lose control along that stretch of road.

As the police investigation continues, relatives and friends are leaning on one another for support. The remaining three passengers were admitted to the hospital in serious condition, and officials have not yet released updates on their recovery.
