Michael A. Silvers was riding his motorcycle through Lower Milford Township on a clear Sunday afternoon when his journey came to a sudden end. The 44-year-old Hereford resident was traveling near the intersection of Beverly Hills Road and Sheridan Road around 12:50 p.m. when he collided with another vehicle.
Emergency crews rushed to the rural crossroads shortly after calls came into dispatch. First responders found Silvers suffering from severe trauma. Paramedics worked on him, but his injuries were too severe, and officials pronounced him dead at the scene shortly before 1:50 p.m.
Silvers lived in nearby Hereford, a small borough in Berks County where he was a familiar face to neighbors. Friends knew him as an easygoing guy who loved open-road rides on warm weekends. His unexpected death sent shockwaves through the tight-knit rural community.
Officers from the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office arrived at the intersection later that afternoon to begin their formal investigation. Coroner Daniel A. Buglio officially identified Silvers and determined the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma sustained in the collision.
Investigating officers noted a key detail at the scene: Silvers was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. State troopers said the impact threw him from his motorcycle, making the blunt trauma fatal upon landing.
The driver of the second vehicle involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Paramedics evaluated the driver for minor injuries while troopers closed down the crossroads to take measurements and photograph vehicle positions.
Back in Hereford, family members spent Sunday evening notifying relatives and coming to terms with the news. A routine weekend motorcycle ride had turned into a sudden tragedy in less than an hour.
Pennsylvania State Police troopers from the Fogelsville station are continuing to investigate what triggered the crash. Funeral services and memorial planning for Silvers remain underway by his family.
