A Saturday night ride along a South Carolina highway ended fatally for a Maryland man after a passenger car turned directly into his path. Mark Allen Bowling Jr., 37, was riding his motorcycle down U.S. 25 in Greenville County when the collision happened. First responders arrived quickly, but Bowling died at the scene from his injuries.
The crash took place around 9:50 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 25 and North Davis Drive. Local authorities say Bowling was traveling southbound on his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. At the same time, a 2011 Toyota Camry was heading northbound on the same stretch of road.

Trouble started when the driver of the Toyota Camry attempted to make a left turn onto North Davis Drive. The car cut across the southbound lanes, right into the path of Bowling’s oncoming motorcycle. The impact was immediate and heavy, leaving the motorcycle wrecked in the roadway.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after witness calls came in. Paramedics evaluated Bowling right away, but the force of the collision caused fatal injuries. Officials with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office pronounced the 37-year-old dead right at the crash site.
News of Bowling’s death hit his family and friends in Maryland hard over the weekend. He had traveled down to South Carolina, making the sudden loss feel even more jarring for those back home who knew him best. Friends and loved ones are now coming together to support one another through the shock.
South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers stayed at the scene late Saturday to document evidence, gather statements, and piece together the timeline. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy for Monday to formalize the official cause of death and assist state investigators.
The investigation into the collision remains open and active as state troopers look into all contributing factors. Authorities have not yet stated whether charges will be filed against the driver of the Toyota Camry. Further details are expected once the state highway patrol wraps up its preliminary crash report.
