Seventeen-year-old Kensley Holmes fought for two straight weeks in a hospital room before her injuries finally proved too much. The teenager died following a horrific side-by-side accident near Duck Creek, Utah, leaving behind a family still trying to process how quickly everything changed.

She was out riding alone when the vehicle went off the trail and slammed hard into a tree. The impact caused catastrophic damage right away, leaving her with a traumatic brain injury alongside severe skull and neck fractures.

Because she was by herself and not wearing a seatbelt, no one knew right away that she was hurt. She lay unconscious near the wreck for several hours while time kept ticking away in the remote area.

Her boyfriend started getting worried when she stopped answering her phone and calls went straight to voicemail. He went out into the woods to trace her path, eventually coming across the smashed UTV and finding her at the scene.

Emergency crews rushed her to a local emergency room before flying her to St. George Hospital for specialized care. Doctors moved fast, taking her into emergency brain surgery and removing a section of her skull to relieve severe pressure from brain swelling.

Over the next dozen days, her body faced one brutal setback after another. She suffered a collapsed lung, went into heart failure, and developed dangerous blood clots while staying in critical condition.

Family and friends stayed near her bed through every single hour, holding out hope as medical teams tried everything they could. Despite all that fight, the physical damage from the crash was simply too severe, and her family is now saying their final goodbyes.
