Jessica Rode Morris was driving along northbound Route 13 in Accomack County on Sunday morning when a collision with a Mercedes-Benz ended her life. The 36-year-old Hallwood woman was behind the wheel of a 2018 Dodge Journey when the crash occurred near Gospel Temple Road.

Virginia State Police said the collision happened at approximately 8:37 a.m. A 2012 Mercedes-Benz C300 collided with the front of Morris’ Dodge, causing the crash that would prove fatal for her.

Morris suffered fatal injuries in the wreck. She was the driver of the Dodge and did not survive the impact. Her death has brought a sudden loss to those who knew her in Hallwood and beyond.

The other vehicle was driven by 18-year-old Jacob Ishmal Adonis Kamara of Dover, Delaware. An adult female passenger was traveling with him in the Mercedes at the time of the crash.

Both Kamara and the passenger were injured and taken to a hospital. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, making Morris’ death the only reported fatality from the collision.

Police later charged Kamara with reckless driving. The charge points to the driving conduct investigators believe was involved, but authorities have not said that the investigation is finished.

The full circumstances surrounding the crash are still being examined. Investigators will determine what happened before the Mercedes struck the front of the Dodge and what factors may have led to the collision.

For Morris’ loved ones, however, the investigation cannot change what happened. A 36-year-old woman who left home that morning did not make it back. Her family and friends are now left with the memories of her life and the difficult reality of her sudden death.

The crash happened on a busy stretch of Route 13, but the story is ultimately about one person whose life ended in an instant. As police continue working to establish the complete facts, Morris’ name remains at the center of a tragedy that began with two vehicles meeting on the road.
