It was just past midnight on an ordinary weekend night in Crowley, Louisiana, when a normal drive down the street turned into a nightmare. Pat was behind the wheel, heading out of the Westwood Subdivision toward Marcel Thomas Avenue. Nobody expected anything out of the ordinary. But as the car passed a quiet patch near the railroad tracks, gunshots suddenly shattered the dark.

Multiple shooters hidden in the dense brush east of the road opened fire on the passing vehicle without warning. Bullets tore through the metal and glass in a rapid flash of violence. In those terrifying seconds, Pat pressed on the gas, desperate to break away from the gunfire and get to safety.

The car sped down the road, leaving the dark tree line behind, but the damage was already done. Pat managed to travel several blocks away, steering through the quiet streets as best as possible. The vehicle finally lost control and crashed heavily in the 1300 block of West 7th Street.

A neighbor heard the crash and called the cops around 12:30 a.m. Crowley Police officers pulled up to the scene minutes later and found the vehicle wrecked on the side of the road. Inside sat Pat, unresponsive and severely injured from multiple bullet wounds.

Emergency workers from the Crowley Fire Department and Med Express rushed in to help. First responders worked quickly, doing everything they could right there on the pavement to save a life. Despite their best efforts, Pat died at the scene before an ambulance could take off.

Word of the shooting spread fast through the neighborhood, leaving folks shocked and shaken. People in Crowley are still coming to terms with how a simple late-night drive ended in such a sudden loss. Friends and family are left grieving a life cut short in a moment of senseless road ambush.

Police detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division spent hours marking bullet casings and gathering evidence along Marcel Thomas Avenue. They still do not know who fired the shots or why Pat was targeted. For now, a small town mourns a neighbor, holding onto memories while waiting for answers.
