Destiney Gonzalez had her whole life ahead of her when she drove over from Caldwell to hang out with friends in Boise over the weekend. The 22-year-old was standing on the front porch of a rental home on West Clement Road early Sunday morning when a car rolled down the street. Shots rang out from the darkness, and before anyone realized what was happening, Gonzalez collapsed on the ground.
Officers from the Boise Police Department rushed to the 3900 block of West Clement Road right around 6 a.m. after getting several urgent calls about gunfire. First responders tried saving her right there on the porch, working fast to stop the bleeding, but the injuries were too severe. She died on the front porch before she could be moved to a hospital.

Family and close friends are struggling to process how a simple weekend trip turned into a nightmare. Those who knew Gonzalez described her as a sweet young woman who loved hanging out with her circle and had big plans for her future. Her unexpected death has left everyone who loved her in complete shock.
Detectives quickly figured out that Gonzalez wasn’t involved in any feud or trouble that night. She was simply attending a party hosted at the house when a sedan pulled up outside. Someone inside the car opened fire into the crowd gathered around the property before speeding off into the night.
Police believe Gonzalez was just an innocent bystander caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Investigators think the shooter was aiming at someone else at the party, or perhaps targeting the house itself, leaving Gonzalez as an unwitting victim of a stray bullet.
Members of the Violent Crimes Unit have spent the past few days knocking on doors, pulling traffic camera footage, and interviewing partygoers who were on West Clement Road when the bullets started flying. So far, no arrests have been made, and officers are asking anyone who saw a suspicious sedan in the neighborhood around 6 a.m. to step forward.
For the family back in Caldwell, the loss is heavy and surreal. They are now left waiting for answers while trying to figure out how to move forward without her. Police are urging anyone with information, photos, or video footage from that morning to contact local law enforcement right away.
