Thursday morning in Gaston County turned into a nightmare when gunfire rang out inside a home on Forbes Road. By the time emergency crews pulled up to the driveway, two women were already dead. First responders found 50-year-old Victoria “Heather” Moore and 38-year-old Megan “Josiah” Moore inside, both killed before help could arrive.
Two other people inside the residence were critically hurt in the gunfire. Paramedics rushed the survivors straight to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, where doctors worked to stabilize them. Both remain in critical but stable condition as family members wait for updates at the hospital.

Friends and neighbors in the area are still trying to process how a routine morning ended in blood and police tape. Heather and Josiah were familiar faces around the neighborhood, known for their warm presence and easygoing nature. The sudden loss has hit folks hard across the local community.
Investigators with the Gaston County Police Department spent hours working the scene along Forbes Road. Detectives went door to door, looking for ring camera footage and asking nearby residents if they heard anything unusual around the time of the shooting.
Officers secured the home shortly after arriving and tried performing CPR and other life-saving steps on the victims. Fire crews and medical teams took over, but nothing could be done to save Heather and Josiah.
So far, law enforcement has not released details on a possible suspect or what led up to the violence. Detectives are keeping facts close to the chest while they gather evidence and talk to potential witnesses.
For the families grieving Heather and Josiah, the waiting is the hardest part. They are holding out hope that the two surviving victims recover, while officers continue working around the clock to figure out exactly what went down inside the home.
