A Tuesday afternoon drive through Canyon Country ended in heartbreak when a local college music instructor lost her life in a sudden multi-car wreck on Soledad Canyon Road.

Christina Burbano Jeffrey, 50, was driving westbound on Soledad Canyon Road near Rainbow Glen Drive around 12:15 p.m. She was just going about her day when an eastbound white Honda CRV suddenly veered across the roadway into incoming traffic.

The Honda smashed into several oncoming vehicles along the busy strip. Jeffrey was driving the third car hit in the path of the oncoming crossover SUV.

The force of the impact left a trail of crushed metal across the intersection. Emergency responders rushed to the scene shortly after noon, but Jeffrey died from her injuries.

Two other drivers suffered injuries in the pileup and were rushed to nearby emergency rooms. Paramedics reported that one victim remained in critical condition following the crash.

Jeffrey served as a dedicated music instructor at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita. Colleagues and students remember her as a vibrant presence who brought genuine warmth and deep passion to her classroom every single day.

Investigators with local law enforcement are still trying to figure out why the driver drifted out of their lane. For a mourning campus and community, the sudden loss leaves an aching hole that will not be easily filled.
