Lynne Zelle, a 76-year-old resident from West Bloomfield, Michigan, was driving her 2024 Ford Edge through rural Clarion County on a late Thursday afternoon. She was heading north along Route 36 near the quiet stretches of Farmington Township when she approached a stop-controlled T-intersection at Tylersburg Road.

It was right around 5:50 p.m. on September 3, 2026, when routine travel turned into a terrifying moment on the asphalt. As Zelle pulled up to the intersection, she made her move to enter the roadway.

Traffic conditions required adequate clearance, but the timing was off. Zelle’s Ford Edge moved into the lane directly in front of an oncoming Nissan Rogue traveling south down Route 36.

The heavy Ford sideswiped the Nissan Rogue with enough force to send the smaller crossover out of control. The sudden impact slammed into the vehicle, causing the Nissan to spin roughly 90 degrees before grinding to a sudden stop across the road.

Pennsylvania State Police units rushed to the scene expecting the worst, given the violent rotational force of the crash. Glass and debris littered the pavement near the Tylersburg Road junction as troopers assessed the damaged vehicles.

When officers checked on both drivers, they discovered something remarkable. Despite the violent spin and body damage to both cars, Zelle and the other driver walked away completely uninjured.

Investigators credited one simple habit for preventing what could have been a serious hospital run: both drivers had clicked their seat belts into place before hitting the road. Zelle’s vehicle took the hit, but proper safety restraints ensured everyone went home safely.
