A Saturday trip ended in disaster when a two-vehicle crash killed a 72-year-old woman and sent three others to the hospital. Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly before 11:30 a.m. after receiving urgent calls about a major wreck at a busy crossing.
The elderly woman was riding in the back seat of one of the cars during the collision. Paramedics worked quickly when they arrived on the scene, but her injuries were too severe. She was pronounced dead right on the pavement before she could be transported.

Two of her family members were in the car with her at the time of the impact. The driver, a 52-year-old woman from Boronia, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. A 14-year-old boy sitting in the front passenger seat escaped with minor injuries and was also taken in for medical treatment.
The driver of the second vehicle was a 41-year-old man from Clayton. He walked away from the heavy wreckage without any physical injuries. However, his 21-year-old female passenger from Parkdale received minor injuries and needed hospital treatment.
Police taped off the surrounding roads while paramedics treated the wounded. The sudden loss of life turned a normal morning trip into an overwhelming tragedy for the local Boronia family.
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit arrived shortly after to take control of the area. Officers began marking skid patterns, documenting vehicle positions, and gathering physical evidence from both damaged automobiles.
Traffic ground to a halt across the neighborhood as authorities shut down major lanes to conduct their sweep. Police warned local drivers to avoid the route entirely and expect lengthy gridlock throughout the rest of the afternoon.
Authorities have not released any details about what caused the two cars to slam into each other. For now, investigators are asking anyone who saw the crash or has dashboard camera footage to come forward immediately.
