Thirty-five-year-old David Bell lost his life early this week in a single-vehicle crash. The Wellsville resident was riding along a familiar stretch of road when things went wrong.

He was heading south on State Route 7. The vehicle underneath him was a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle.

Just past nine o’clock in the evening, the bike drifted off the right side of the pavement. There was little room for error on that stretch.

The motorcycle hit a solid guardrail and flipped over. The impact was severe.

Investigators confirmed that Bell was not wearing a helmet at the time. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead right there on the asphalt.

State troopers point to alcohol as a suspected factor in the wreck. The Ohio State Highway Patrol states that the inquiry is still active.

Local emergency crews rushed to the scene to manage the aftermath. Personnel from the Negley Fire Department, local EMS, and the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office assisted troopers.

The crash happened in Middleton Township. That pocket of eastern Ohio sits roughly fifty miles southeast of Cleveland and about thirty-five miles west of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
