Baton Rouge police officers rushed to a house on Cypress Road in Louisiana on Tuesday afternoon and discovered a violent scene. Inside the residence, officers found 54-year-old Faun Reese dead with apparent stab wounds.
Emergency responders also found a second person inside the house who was severely injured. Paramedics quickly transported that individual to a local hospital in serious condition, while homicide detectives took over the crime scene.

Investigators quickly determined that the killing was tied to domestic violence. The sudden arrival of police cars and yellow crime scene tape stunned neighbors who knew the street as a quiet place.
As news of the homicide spread, the victim’s identity added a deeply painful layer to the story. Faun Reese was a long-time state social worker in Baton Rouge who spent more than thirteen years helping local families handle crises.
Friends revealed that Reese had spent years planning to launch her own care center for domestic abuse survivors. The very issue she wanted to protect other women from ended up taking her own life inside her residence.
Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit are continuing to piece together what happened inside the home before officers arrived. Police are asking anyone with information or nearby security footage to contact detectives or Crime Stoppers.
Members of the local community are coming together to support Reese’s family and demand answers about the attack. Friends say they want her remembered for her lifelong service and big heart, not just the violent way she died.
