A four-year search for Darriel Thompson has ended with his arrest in Windsor, Ontario, in a case involving the shooting deaths of two Mississauga men in Etobicoke. Thompson was arrested Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, and is now facing two second-degree murder charges and an attempted murder charge.

The shooting happened on Jan. 3, 2022, at 150 Thirtieth St., in the Alderwood area of south Etobicoke. Toronto police were called around 8:45 p.m. after receiving a report of gunfire at the industrial-area location near Horner Avenue and Browns Line.

Officers arriving at the scene found two wounded men and a woman who had also been injured. The three victims were taken to a hospital. The two men later died from their gunshot wounds, while the woman was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police identified the men as Minyali Wur, 24, and Chudier Reat, 20. Both were from Mississauga. Their deaths became Toronto’s third and fourth homicides of 2022, turning what began as a shooting call into a double-homicide investigation.

Thompson, also from Mississauga, was wanted for two counts of second-degree murder and attempted murder. Windsor police eventually located and arrested him on Aug. 22, 2026. The arrest is the latest step in a case that has involved several suspects and taken investigators years to pursue.

Another suspect, Camarr Brown of Brampton, was previously charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Phillip Grant, of Peel Region, was later arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder. Grant also faces charges involving a loaded restricted firearm and possessing a firearm contrary to a court order.

Grant’s arrest came in January 2025, when members of the Provincial ROPE Squad and Windsor police, with help from Toronto police, located him. Thompson’s name had remained in the case for years, including during efforts to find him as one of Canada’s wanted fugitives.

The woman who was injured in the 2022 shooting has not been publicly identified. Police had asked anyone with information about the shooting, including people with dashcam or surveillance video from the area, to come forward.

For Wur and Reat’s families, the case has stretched across more than four years since the night the two young men were shot. Thompson now faces the criminal charges tied to their deaths, but those allegations have not been proven in court. He remains presumed innocent unless found guilty.
