A trip through a Walmart parking lot in Ontario, Ohio, turned deadly Sunday morning when a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Max Longwell struck a block retaining wall.
Longwell, who was from Lexington, was driving through the parking lot shortly before 9 a.m. when his vehicle crashed into the wall, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

He was taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with injuries from the crash. Despite receiving treatment, Longwell later died at the hospital.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has not said why the vehicle went into the retaining wall. Officials also have not released additional details about what may have happened moments before the collision.
The crash remains under investigation. At this point, authorities have not announced any other vehicles or people as being involved in the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the crash leave important questions unanswered, including what caused Longwell to lose control of the vehicle while traveling through the parking lot.
For those who knew Longwell, the loss came suddenly. A 22-year-old life ended after a crash that happened in a place where people normally go about an ordinary morning.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to establish exactly what happened before the vehicle struck the retaining wall. Further information may be released as the investigation continues.
