Tyler R. Auville, 34, of Newport, Ohio, was killed Saturday night when the 1965 Ford Mustang he was driving went off State Route 7 in Ohio Township, struck an embankment and overturned.
The crash happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Auville was trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed by emergency responders. He was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital Marietta Campus, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities said Auville was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol is also suspected to have been a factor. The patrol has not released a final determination on what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, and the investigation remains open.
The scene brought several emergency agencies together. The Highway Patrol, Newport Fire Department and EMS, Reno Fire Department and EMS, Washington County Coroner’s Office and PCS Towing responded after the Mustang crashed.
For investigators, the immediate task is to piece together what happened before the car left the road. For Auville’s loved ones, the focus is different. They are now dealing with the loss of a man who was only 34 and whose life ended far sooner than expected.
Auville’s death shows how quickly a roadway incident can become fatal. A vehicle can leave the road in seconds, and the people involved can be left facing consequences that cannot be undone. In this case, the Mustang struck an embankment before overturning, leaving Auville with injuries that proved fatal.
The information released by authorities also puts attention on two important factors in the crash: seat-belt use and suspected alcohol involvement. Both are now part of the investigation. Until the patrol finishes its work, the full sequence of events leading to the wreck remains unknown.
Behind the official details was a person with family, friends and a life outside the accident report. Auville was known as a Newport resident, and his death will be felt by people who knew him long before the crash became a public story.
Sudden deaths often leave families with little time to prepare. There is no chance to plan for the final goodbye when a routine night ends with a serious crash. The people closest to Auville must now deal with that reality while investigators continue gathering facts.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities are expected to determine more about the circumstances surrounding the collision as their work continues.
Tyler R. Auville’s final moments were marked by a serious crash on State Route 7, but his life was larger than those few moments. He leaves behind people who knew him, memories that remain and a family now facing the painful task of saying goodbye.
