Ava Walters’ death has opened a police investigation in Montgomery, Alabama, after officers were called Sunday morning to an off-campus university facility where the Alabama State University student was found unresponsive.
Montgomery police were dispatched at approximately 10:54 a.m. Sunday to the 1600 block of Interstate Park Drive following a report of a person deceased. When officers arrived, they found Walters at the location.

Walters was pronounced dead at the scene. The details surrounding the death remain limited, and authorities have not publicly explained what happened before police were called.
Walters was a second-year Health Information Management major at Alabama State University. Her death was announced by ASU President Quinton T. Ross Jr., who expressed support for her family and the university community as they deal with the loss.
One of the biggest unanswered questions is what led to Walters’ death. Police have not said whether foul play is suspected, and no cause or manner of death has been provided in the information released so far.
The Montgomery Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation. Detectives will be responsible for piecing together the events surrounding the discovery and determining what happened before Walters was found.
The case has also drawn attention within the Alabama State community because Walters was still in the early part of her college education. She was pursuing her degree and had her future ahead of her when her life was suddenly cut short.
For her classmates and friends, the loss is personal. A familiar face on campus is now someone they will remember through the moments they shared, while her family faces the much deeper pain of losing a young loved one.
Authorities have not released many details, and the investigation remains active. Until more information becomes available, questions about how Walters died will remain unanswered.
The focus now is on finding out what happened at the Montgomery facility and giving Walters’ family and those who knew her a clearer account of her final moments.
