A fatal morning collision at a busy Jefferson County intersection has deputies searching for answers. On Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, 24-year-old Alyssa Michelle-Rose Moody died following a two-vehicle wreck in Pinson, Alabama. The fatal crash happened during the morning travel hour, drawing emergency crews to the scene.
First responders received the call at approximately 8:49 a.m. regarding a crash at Highway 79 and Bethel Road. Alyssa, a resident of nearby Trafford, was driving through the intersection when her car collided with another vehicle. The impact caused severe damage, stopping traffic along the corridor.
Deputies and investigators from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office arrived within minutes. Despite quick response efforts from emergency workers, Alyssa died from her injuries at the scene shortly after 9:00 a.m.
Pinson lies in north-central Alabama, about 15 miles northeast of Birmingham, making Highway 79 a primary road for local commuters. Even with the heavy use of the intersection, authorities have released very few details about what led up to the crash.
Official reports have not identified the second vehicle involved in the collision. Sheriff’s officials have also not stated whether the driver or passengers in that second vehicle suffered any injuries during the incident.
