A quiet Wednesday late afternoon in McDuffie County turned into a nightmare for family members and friends who loved Tangla Brown. The 48-year-old Dearing resident lost her life after her car ran off Old Milledgeville Road around 5:07 p.m. Neighbors and relatives are now left trying to process a sudden loss that nobody saw coming on an ordinary weekday drive.
Tangla was a familiar face around the small town of Dearing. People knew her for her friendly nature, her quick smile, and the genuine warmth she brought to simple everyday chats. At 48, she had plenty of life left to live and many more family gatherings to enjoy. Her unexpected death hit the local community hard, leaving folks struggling to wrap their heads around the tragedy.
According to official reports from the McDuffie County Coroner’s Office, Tangla was driving eastbound along the 2700 block of Old Milledgeville Road near Wire Road when things went wrong. Her car drifted off the side of the paved roadway for reasons that remain unclear. She tried her best to pull the steering wheel back and correct her path, but the car overcorrected quickly.
That sudden movement sent her vehicle slicing across the center line and over the opposing lane. The car skidded straight off the far side of the road and smashed into a dense wooded area along the shoulder. First responders rushed to the scene immediately after receiving emergency calls about a vehicle buried in the trees.
Paramedics and local law enforcement officers worked quickly at the crash site to help, but the impact was severe. The McDuffie County Coroner’s Office officially pronounced Tangla dead at approximately 5:45 p.m., less than an hour after the initial crash occurred.
