Andy Williams lived two distinct lives in front of loud crowds. Music fans knew him as the heavy-hitting rhythm guitarist for the metalcore band Every Time I Die. Wrestling fans knew him as The Butcher, a big presence inside the ring. On Saturday night, those two worlds came to a sudden end.

Williams was performing at an independent wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania, when he suffered a severe medical emergency. He collapsed near the end of his match and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Authorities later confirmed that the 48-year-old performer had passed away.

For more than two decades, Williams made his mark on stage. He helped form Every Time I Die in Buffalo back in 1998. The band built a massive global fanbase, releasing multiple albums and touring constantly until they officially broke up in 2022.

While making music, Williams also chased his passion for professional wrestling. He trained hard and eventually stepped into the national spotlight with All Elite Wrestling in 2019. Teaming up with his long-time partner, The Blade, he became a regular fixture on national television for nearly seven years.

After their AEW contracts ended in June 2026, Williams and The Blade hit the independent circuit. They stayed active, traveling to smaller venues to perform in front of dedicated local fans. That work brought them to Mr. Smalls Theatre on Saturday night for Enjoy Wrestling’s five-year anniversary show.

Williams and The Blade were in the middle of a tag team match against TME when disaster struck. Right near the end of the bout, Williams suddenly went down inside the ring. Witnesses noted that his legs gave out before he collapsed completely.

Ring staff and venue medical crew moved fast. They started CPR right on the spot and used an automated external defibrillator to try to revive him. Paramedics soon arrived and continued emergency treatment while loading him into an ambulance.

The county medical examiner’s office confirmed his death later that night. Officials have not released a cause of death yet, and the incident remains under medical review.
