A Monday afternoon walk through Midtown turned into an absolute nightmare when a woman pulled two massive kitchen knives out of a red shopping bag and started slashing total strangers. A 32-year-old woman lost her life, and a 68-year-old man ended up in the hospital, all within twenty seconds of total panic on one of the busiest streets in America.
The older man had just stepped off the subway and was simply waiting for the traffic light to change near 41st Street and Seventh Avenue. Out of nowhere, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros walked up to him and buried a knife straight into his abdomen. Before anyone on the sidewalk could even process the horror, she kept walking north toward 42nd Street, targeted an innocent young woman, and stabbed her deep in the stomach.
People on the street started screaming and frantically pointing out the suspect to local cops on patrol. Paramedics rushed both bleeding victims straight to Bellevue Hospital. Doctors tried everything they could to save the young woman, but her injuries were far too severe, and she passed away shortly after arriving. The elderly victim survived the sudden assault and remains listed in stable condition.
Witnesses watched in pure shock as police officers cornered the suspect between 42nd and 43rd Streets right outside a neighborhood precinct station. Cops spent four tense minutes talking to her, desperately begging her to set the blades down on the pavement. She stood her ground, waved the weapons around, and yelled back that she would rather kill the officers than drop a single knife.
When the suspect suddenly lunged straight toward the patrolmen, officers fired their Tasers to try to bring her down without lethal force. The electric shocks completely failed to stop her momentum. Left with no choice as she charged with weapons raised, two officers opened fire, striking her multiple times right in front of horrified onlookers.
The suspect was loaded into an ambulance and taken to Bellevue Hospital under heavy police guard, where doctors pronounced her dead. Investigators later recovered both blood-stained knives from the sidewalk and completely blocked off five major blocks of Midtown, causing massive traffic delays clear across the city through the evening commute.
City leaders confirmed that the violent rampage was entirely random and unprovoked, with no signs of any organized terror connection. While the suspect had no prior criminal record or arrests, department records showed she had multiple documented interactions with local police over severe mental health struggles in recent years.
